Okay I am going to be getting some components soon for my 07 altima w/Bose. I will be needing to run new wire from my aftermarket amp to the front door speakers. Is it hard to get the wires thru the black tube in between the door? Any tricks I should know about? Pics?

i have a 3rd gen im not sure about ur car, but if u use a coat hanger it shouldn't be a problem. If vital is around, he might be able to answer ur problem.

i haven't looked on my altima yet, but a lot of cars use a plug attached to the door for replacement purposes. they can simply disconnect the plug, replace the door, reconnect the car side of the plug to the door side of the plug and no further connections inside the door are necessary. if the altima doesn't use one of those plugs, then it is super easy to accomplish running new wires into the doors. like tigerlui said, a coat hanger will work.

Iirc it does make use of a molex plug Gotwake. But you are correct....if this is the case, simply drilling a hole thru the plug will net a perfect hole to pass the new speaker wire thru.

i look for what "holes" on the molex plugs aren't being used, and then drill two small holes barely bigger than the speaker wire to pass them through them. generally the small grid holes are big enough for up to 14 gauge speaker wire, with one wire per hole.

wiring

I dont know how you plan to wire your speakers, but it sounds like u plan on running them straight off your amp.If this is the case you dont need to tamper with your door boots. You can simply tap into your door speakers from behind your reciever.Keeps it simple--this is what most professionals do!You dont have to tamper with your door!:shift:

Uhm, and WHY would he do this??? He is installing an aftermarket amplifier as he stated in his 1st post. I personally wouldnt use the factory speaker wire as suggested here to run to my aftermarket amp. The factory wire is quite thin. If he is running alot of power he may not get all that he paid for with the amp. I guess like most professionals, they tend to keep it simple by not listening to the customer, or in this case, reading for clarity.

i would only consider using the factory wiring for under 30-40 watts. not only is it thin, it is generally very low quality wire (read not oxygen free nor fine strand). if you want it done right, which is what most professionals that DON'T work at best buy would do, run wire straight from the amp to the speakers.

the plug is at the end of the rubber boot. when you pull it back, you'll see it. drilling through it just gives the cleanest and most waterproof way to get the speaker wires to the door speakers. you can also drill new holes in the metal and make your own rubber boot and seal it up.

Wait, what..... i did read and still don't get why u'd need to drill anything when running speakers wires to the doors....

"Black rubber boot" is nothing more then a piece of rubber with a bunch of factory wires in it. All you need to do is run your wires inside of it just like factory wires are run. You can achive that either with a coat hanger (make sure to bend the end of it so it doesn't damage your factory wires) or better yet take that boot out so you could have it "straight" and not bent and run/wiggle your wires thru it.

ok, i just went out and checked my 2011. no molex plug that snaps into the door, so no drilling required. sorry about the confusion. the cars with molex plugs are a little more of a PITA, but it should be cake to run new wires to the doors on the altimas. also, make sure to tape up the ends of the coat hanger really well to prevent them from slicing the boot.

Directtechs tech sheet told me that only the altimas with anti pinch windows have the molex plug.....and even then I found out they lied to me when I was getting near the end of the install doing the door locks, which made me happy because those molex plugs are DEFINITELY a pain in the ass.
